Serving God or Serving Work?

Hello my dear friends. Just want to give you a short thought to get you through this Friday. I read a book recently that I highly recommend to anyone called Running on Empty by Fil Anderson. This man talked about how he got so busy that he was concerned with getting things done and pleasing people instead of working with God and fulfilling His will.

Do we get so busy in life these days that we totally forget about God? Do we think we are serving God when working but in reality we are serving work instead of God? A great man and friend, Rev. Richard Weagraff, gave me a quote when I entered my associate pastorate that will always stick to my heart. He simply stated “Busyness is not holiness.” Are we seeking God’s approval through what we do or what His Son, Jesus Christ did on the cross?

In closing, instead of doing things for God, why don’t we walk WITH God. As we walk with Him, it means having a daily relationship with Him that will strengthen our relationship and help us to hear His calling in our lives. If you have placed work in place of Him, run to Him and ask for forgiveness. He is waiting with His arms wide open to welcome you home again.

A man cannot have two masters. Choose God today and walk with Him as you serve and love Him.

Update

Hello everyone! Had my first follow up appointment at the doctor yesterday and things went very well! They numbed my nose up and took a scope up in and looked around. Then she was able to get a suction and get a bunch of junk out of there. There is still more junk to come out but more healing has to occur first.  Have to go back next week.

I am looking forward to start a new series at New Life Church for the next four Wednesday evenings on prayer. I am currently reading a powerful book on prayer by Anne Graham Lotz entitled “The Daniel Prayer.” If you have not read this, I highly recommend it. The church wonders where the power has gone. The church also has so many misconceptions about prayer. Many of the things talked about in this upcoming series are meant to ruffle some feathers because its time we as a church stop going through the motions and get to work, praying, ministering, and allowing our lives to reflect what we claim to be. Lord help us in this endeavor.

Well time for me to get some stuff done. Going back to the church today and very excited about this.

It’s Been Forever

It has been forever since I have posted here but I plan on changing this. There has been so many people that have followed my blog and I sincerely thank you.

Much has happened since I last posted here. I accepted an associate pastorate at New Life Church in Blossom, TX. This past week, I had surgery #4, except this time it was on my sinuses and not my back. God continues to bless my life and the life of my family.

The sinus surgery went very well. Originally, the doctor was going to fix a deviated septum but for some reason, which I will find out next week, he decided not to correct this. It is a blessing to soon know I will breath unlike ever before. In February, I ended up with a nasty sinus infection that rolled the ball on this surgery.

The church is doing wonderful. It is a blessing to be a part of a body of believers such as this. It has certainly kept me busy. I am trying to figure out how to post the audio of my sermons on here but have not been able to. If anyone out there knows how to, please let me know. Otherwise, I might end up putting it in dropbox and linking to it, which is a last resort.

Well I am going to get off of here and rest. My nose is very congested and it has my sense of smell totally thrown off.  It makes me light headed and reminds me that I need to take an easy and rest.

Blessings to all!
