My Manna- Glow With His Glory!

"I will pour out My Spirit on the house of Israel." Ezekiel 39:29.
The upper room has been described as "the birthplace of the church."
Certainly it was there that power was loosed which changed the world.
The upper room was part of someone’s home-
- someone sympathetic to Jesus and His ministry.
Why did the Holy Spirit come upon the disciples in a home-
- and not in a sacred place such as the temple?
If the Holy Spirit had come upon them in the temple-
- then His coming would have been associated with a sacred place, sacred services, or sacred occasions.
The Holy Spirit came in the most common of all places-
- a home, as if He was saying,
- "I am here not just for ‘sacred’ occasions,
- but for all occasions, for all of life!"
The Holy Spirit is not a spiritual luxury-
- to be imported into the unusual-
- but a spiritual necessity for the usual!

He is to be the pulse-beat of all we do-
- the usual as well as the unusual,
- the ordinary as well as the extraordinary.
In the coming of the Holy Spirit, the ordinary and seemingly insignificant things of life are touched with divine significance:
- every bush is aflame with the glory of God,
- every moment is packed with eternity, and
- every contact we make is part of His perfect purposes.
I am so thankful to God that I don’t have to wander from sacred place to sacred place in search of His power.
He comes to me just where I am until my heart glows with His glory!

We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us, then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

God’s Favorite Word

Jesus said, "Come follow me." —Mat_4:19

God is an inviting God. He invited Mary to birth his Son, the disciples to fish for men, the adulteress woman to start over, and Thomas to touch his wounds. God is the King who prepares the palace, sets the table, and invites his subjects to come in.

In fact, it seems his favorite word is come.

"Come, let us talk about these things. Though your sins are like scarlet, they can be as white as snow."

"All you who are thirsty, come and drink."

"Come to me all, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest." …

God is a God who invites. God is a God who calls.

Walking By Faith

Neil Andersons Daily in Christ

WALKING BY FAITH
Colossians 2:6, 7
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith
Some Christians believe that walking by faith means being carried along by a mysterious, ethereal, indescribable inner sense called "faith." But the walk of faith is much more practical and definable than that. Walking by faith simply means that you function in daily life on the basis of what you believe. Your belief system determines your behavior. If your behavior is off in a certain area, you need to correct your belief in that area because your misbehavior is the result of your misbelief.
"But how can I know what I really believe?" you may ask. Take a few minutes to complete the following statements as concisely and truthfully as possible.
I would be more successful if . . .
I would be more significant if . . .
I would be more fulfilled if . . .
I would be more satisfied if . . .
I would be happier if . . .
I would have more fun if . . .
I would be more secure if . . .
I would have more peace if . . .
Whatever you believe is the answer to these statements constitutes your present belief system.
Assuming that your basic physiological needs (food, shelter, safety, etc.) are met, you will be motivated in life by what you believe will bring your success, significance, fulfillment, satisfaction, happiness, fun, security and peace. If what you believe about these eight values does not line up with what God says about them, your walk of faith will be off to the same degree that your belief is off.
Prayer: Father, enable me to grow in my understanding of Your Word today so my faith-walk will be strengthened.

Preparing the Heart

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. —Psa_103:12

Confession does for the soul what preparing the land does for the field. Before the farmer sows the seed he works the acreage, removing the rocks and pulling the stumps. He knows that seed grows better if the land is prepared. Confession is the act of inviting God to walk the acreage of our hearts. "There is a rock of greed over here Father, I can’t budge it. And that tree of guilt near the fence? Its roots are long and deep. And may I show you some dry soil, too crusty for seed?" God’s seed grows better if the soil of the heart is cleared.

And so the Father and the Son walk the field together; digging and pulling, preparing the heart for fruit. Confession invites the Father to work the soil of the soul.

In the Grip of Grace

You prepare a meal for me in front of my enemies. —Psa_23:5

Pause and envision the scene in [God's] royal dining room…

Driven not by our beauty but by his promise, he calls us to himself and invites us to take a permanent place at his table… We take our place next to the other sinners-made-saints and we share in God’s glory.

May I share a partial list of what awaits you at his table?

You are beyond condemnation (Rom_8:1 ).
You are a member of his kingdom (Col_1:13 ).
You have been adopted (Rom_8:15 ).
You have access to God at any moment (Eph_2:18 ).
You will never be abandoned (Heb_13:5 ).
You have an imperishable inheritance (1Pe_1:4 ).

In the Grip of Grace

Every good action and every perfect gift is from God. —Jas_1:17

Ever feel like you have nothing? Just look at the gifts [God] has given you:

He has sent his angels to care for you, his Holy Spirit to dwell in you, his church to encourage you, and his word to guide you…

Anytime you speak, he listens; make a request and he responds.

He will never let you be tempted too much or stumble too far.

Let a tear appear on your cheek, and he is there to wipe it.

Let a love sonnet appear on your lips, and he is there to hear it.

As much as you want to see him, he wants to see you more…

You have been chosen by Christ… He has claimed you as his beloved.

Injection Results

Dear friends,

Just writing to let you know how the injection went.  I was in so much pain when I got there that I could barely even walk into the hospital.  The nurse who came and got me saw how much pain I was in and she went and got a wheelchair because the room they were having to take me to was quite a ways away.

They got me back into the room and sat up on the table and they began reviewing all of my information.  The neuroradiologist came in and sat at the computer and carefully reviewed all of my films.  Then he came in and him and I talked for 10 minutes.  He told me exactly what he was going to do and then I had some time to tell him about my fears because of having the needle bent in my back and also that Dr hitting nerves in my back to make my legs literally jump off the table.  He assured me there was no chance of that happening with him.

So I laid down on my stomach on the table and he told me exactly what he was doing.  He eventually got to the point where he said he was trying to find the precise area so that he could do the injection.  He later asked me if I could feel that and I told him yes.  It was burning my groin and hip area terribly.  Then all of a sudden, he starts to walk out of the room and take his scrubs off.  I thought to myself hey Dr. Your leaving and the needle is still in my spine.  So the nurse was there and I asked her well what is next.  Her answer was to put a bandaid on your back and to get you sat up.

Come to find out that burning I was feeling was the steroid being injected. I still thought he was trying to get the needle in the right spot and never knew he had already completed the procedure, including removing the needle.  This doctor was excellent.  I found out he is the chief of that dept and has over 30 yrs experience in this work.  He also is a professor of neuroradiology at the medical school and he also is a professor of neurosurgery.  That means I actually had a neurosurgeon do this procedure.  Every person I dealt with down there yesterday was Christian which is the hand of God once again at work.  The worst part of the procedure was having to lay on my stomach.  I was hurting so bad, I was sweating.

Now for the results.   Initially afterwards I was in alot of pain from how I had to lay.  I got back to the car and took a pain pill and that helped calm things down..  Then the initial numbing medicine helped as well and I’m so blessed to say I got a pain free night of sleep last night!!!!!  As I write this, I sit here crying because I’m not in that pain I was in… All I can say today is PRAISE GOD!!!  GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!

I am feeling some pressure and cramps and some pain but nothing compared to where I was.  I actually was up sitting in the living room early and spent almost all morning out and my back is tired and in a little pain, but as I said nowhere like before.  I took tynelol instead of hydrocodone for the pain this morning…. Thank you Jesus!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers.  It is the only thing that has made this possible.  All I could feel yesterday was the peace of God surrounding my heart concerning this procedure.  I literally had people all around the world praying for me and no distance can ever separate our prayer from reaching one another.

Well I better close for now as I have some work to do.  It will take the next couple of days for the actual steroid to start working so with me feeling no pain this morning is nothing but the grace of God working in my life.  Blessings to you all and have a blessed day.

Dear Friends,

I know many of you have been waiting to hear about how my Dr.’s appointment went so here it goes. Got down there and boy just walking through the hospital was a very hard thing to do, even with the walker. I got in there and had to wait over 2 hrs to even get into the room. When I did finally get in there, the Dr’s physician’s assistant came in and examined me. He did note that I am weaker in both legs, but especially the left one that has dropfoot. I told him my symptoms and even without talking with the surgeon or looking at films, he told me it was a L1-L2 herniation. At that time, he went out and him and the surgeon looked at the films. All I could pray during that time is that God would give the surgeon wisdom on what to do. It was one of the most anxious times I have had in a long time but there were so many times I felt peace come upon me and the first thing I could think of is that someone is really storming heaven for me. I really cherish and appreciate all of the prayers. They mean more to me than anything.

He finally came in and was in there but for a minute or so. He already had his mind made up on what he was going to do before he even came into the room. He said that right now, surgery is not required PTL. He is going to have a epidural steroid injection done to relieve the swelling and to allow that nerve to have some room. I go back to Pittsburgh for that on the 29th. I am pretty scared about it trust me. For all of you who do not know, I had a terrible experience with needles in the back when I first started having problems when I was 20. They bent a needle in my back, they hit nerves to where my legs jumped off the table and this lasted for 2 hrs. The doctor down there told me I don’t have to worry about that happening down there because the guy who does these is a neuroradiologist, which means this is all he does everyday. I totally trust them down there to do this. I have gotten a lot of rest today and my back is actually feeling really good. Very little pain so I think rest is going to be a big part of the healing.

He said he hopes that the injections will give me a few months relief but every person is different. If worse comes to worse, I will need surgery again to repair it, but they would just repair the disk and stuff which would require a much shorter recovery time. So I am blessed that’s for sure.

I love the Word where the Psalmist writes in Psalm 30:5 “weeping may remain for a night, But rejoicing comes in the morning.” I feel that now God is transitioning the night into morning for us. Found out solutions for my back. And now we have found a trailer that is all but sold to us pending approval from the trailer park manager. It is a 2 bedroom but listen to this: In their shed they have all the materials to build a 3rd bedroom. It has air conditioning and with the payment and everything it might run 100 more than what I was paying but still very affordable. I am just in awe to see how God is working in our lives and blessing us. Praise His Name.

Well this is the latest update. Please pray for my continued relief from the pain and that the final hurdle for us getting the trailer will be overcome soon. Blessings in the Name of Jesus and thanks so much for the prayers.
